Great News!

We got a call from our NeuroOncologist a few minutes ago and he informed us that they believe the tumor to be a very rare variant of an "ependymoma." This would be a class 2 tumor rather than the very aggressive class 3 or 4 that they were expecting to find.

These tumors are very receptive to radiation and the prognosis is good. No Chemo therapy should be needed.

I'll fill you in on more details shortly but wanted to get the good news out right away. We have a lot to be thankful for tonight!

Dave

Phil just called me a few minutes ago to tell me! I breathed a huge sigh of relief, though I know the next several weeks/months will still be quite challenging. We won't stop praying!
In the mean time. Here's the song that my heart sang when Phil called me.

Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
O my soul, Jehovah praise;
I will sing the glorious praises
Of my God through all my days.
Put no confidence in princes,
Nor for help on man depend;
He shall die, to dust returning,
And his purposes shall end.

Happy is the man that chooses
Israel's God to be his aid;
He is blest whose hope of blessing
On the Lord his God is stayed.
Heaven and earth the Lord created,
Seas and all that they contain;
He delivers from oppression,
Righteousness He will maintain.

Food He daily gives the hungry,
Sets the mourning prisoner free,
Raises those bowed down with anguish,
Makes the sightless eyes to see,
Well Jehovah loves the righteous,
And the stranger He befriends,
Helps the fatherless and widow,
Judgment on the wicked sends.

Hallelujah, praise Jehovah,
O my soul, Jehovah praise; I will sing the glorious praises
Of my God through all my days.
Over all God reigns forever,
Through all ages He is King;
Unto Him, thy God, O Zion,
Joyful hallelujahs sing.

Fantastic news!!
The power of prayer and faith in God can truly bring about miracles.
Karen has been on the Ozark, Arkansas, First United Methodist Church's prayer list since Saturday. She'll stay there until she's fully recovered.
David, thank you so much for keeping us posted. God bless you all.

PRAISE THE LORD!
PRAISE GOD IN HIS SANCTUARY
PRAISE HIM IN HIS MIGHT EXPANSE
PRAISE HIM FOR HIS MIGHTY DEEDS
PRAISE HIM ACCORDING TO HIS EXCELLENT GREATNESS...you all know the rest...LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH...PRAISE THE LORD!!!

I must have checked this site a dozen times today...waiting on pins and needles(even ate too much today from nerves--but you are worth it!)...

So glad to hear the news...
But I will continue to pray that she responds well, that the Lord will allow her to fully recover and that you all will grow closer to Christ each and every day...

Karen,
I'm one of your Dad's bell players and I have been praying for you. I had mouth cancer surgery at UCSF 12 years ago and it was very successful. I thank God for all the people who prayed for me. I know you will be blessed by the prayers also. I am so thankful that you will only be doing radiation.

We are so thankful for all of the prayers for Karen! I jokingly told a friend that God's ears must be hurting from all of the petitions on her behalf. I know He is actually thrilled that we are obeying Him and seeking Him in earnest. We have full confidence that she will spend eternity with Him but honestly, we are enjoying her company here at the moment...Yay, God!

A few special verses keep me going:

Everything is possible for him who believes
Mark 9:23

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1

Until now you haven't asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge HIm, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

We continue to pray for a complete healing and love you so much!!!

Phil 4: 6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, WITH THANKSGIVING, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which trancends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Praise God. We are in good hands.

We love you.

Karen and David - I broke down and sobbed when Anna called me last night with your WONDERFUL news. Our God is SO GOOD and incredibly AWESOME. As Nan said, it still won't be an easy battle, but it is a battle that can be won. You condinue to be in my prayers, as well as those of many of my friends and prayer warriors. Your faith has been an inspiration to me and to many others. We do serve a living Savior and sit in the palm of His hand. I love and miss you all and will look forward to the next time I can visit with you and the children.

Love, Loine

Wow! I heard this a few minutes ago. My mom was telling someone on the phone. That is such great news! We had just prayed about it together about an hour ago, and it seems like just the kind of thing we were hoping would be the results. I was, like I am sure you have been for very long, anxious about the effects the possible chemos might have on her, seeing the way my opa is reacting to his treatment. It is wonderful to hear that she doesn't have to have chemo medication!!! I will continue to pray for all of you, thanking God especially for this recent improvement.
